THE CREATURES OF HALLOWNEST
Hey everyone,
Firstly, let’s all give each other a quick pat on the back – Hollow Knight is a staff pick on Kickstarter! Someone up there (on the Kickstarter staff) likes us! That should give us a bit more exposure and help us get toward the goal.
Secondly, we thought we’d give you all a quick introduction to some of the creatures you’ll be meeting (and fighting) in the world of Hallownest! The below is an excerpt from the Field Guide to the Ruined Kingdom Hallownest by Malana Luzo, Professor of Beastology.
Snittering Crawlid
Nothing more than a nuisance, these oblivious little scavengers wander about aimlessly looking for scraps of food.
Droobling Muzznik
These morose-looking flies buzz around haphazardly through the caverns, bouncing off of walls and irritating travellers.
Segmented Clamberbab
A spiky, tenacious little bug that climbs all over the place using its pointed feet. Always seems to be in a bit of a hurry.
Endemons Sapien (Infected)
These vicious, mindless ghouls were once ordinary bugs like you and me. Something below the surface has burnt away their souls and filled them with an aimless rage.
Vengeward Buzzerfly
Once this flying predator has caught sight of its prey, it will hunt it relentlessly through the darkness.
Scrundling Propede (infant)
Although the shells of these youngsters are not thick enough to protect them from predators, they are still able to defend themselves if pressed.
Blundering Oberlisk
This placid herbivore doesn’t seem to wish harm on any of the creatures it shares a habitat with. However, its careless nature and bulky weight sometimes leads to messy accidents.
Bulbous Hummingnit (Male)
The male of this species is extremely aggressive, and will spit corrosive balls of venom at prey and intruders alike. Especially dangerous when encountered in packs.
Bulbous Hummingnit (Female)
The female of this species is just as aggressive as the male. Appallingly, it uses its own young as a defensive measure against intruders.
Greater Susking Hoppod
An overgrown bloodsucker that will patiently stalk its prey until it finds the right time to strike.
Lesser Mantian
The Mantian tribe were always the outsiders of Hallownest society. After the cataclysm, these inscrutable hunters retreated into the fungal forests to escape the plague.
Unknown Species
No data available. This creature has been stalking the caverns lately. Travellers are advised to avoid it – it is potentially dangerous.
