LATE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!
Gang! We’re jumping in for a quick round-up update. Lots going on in the world of Hollow Knight, so we’re gonna start running down the list. This’ll be a speedy one, so we can dive straight back into Silksong development. Hold onto your horns!
Hollow Knight Turns Two Years Old
With our heads down building Hollow Knight’s sister-sequel, HK’s birthday whipped past us! On February 24th, Hollow Knight hit its two year anniversary since launching! That’s a big milestone for a big game about tiny insects (and arachnids, and gastropods, and jellyfish), and a fantastic place for us to find ourselves – with the sequel fast coming together, and the original game now available on all major platforms.
We’ve talked at length about how thrilled we are at the incredible reception of Hollow Knight, and the main thing for us now is to give you more of that world, those characters and those surprises. For the immediate future that means our full focus is on getting Hollow Knight: Silksong ready for you all.
But we’re not alone on this anymore! Thanks to our amazing fans and partners, Hollow Knight’s world and characters keep expanding, with inventive art, stories, music and incredible products. Just check out this intricate (and adorable) Hollow Knight statue that recently arrived in the Team Cherry office courtesy of the wonderful/extremely-skilled @conomirobamimi :

Unlike us, some fans couldn’t let HK’s big birthday pass them by, with extravagant commemorative pieces:
Fangamer’s going Physical!
What better way to celebrate two years, than this unveiling! The fantastic folk at Fangamer lifted the lid on two mega new items. The first: Hollow Knight physical editions!
Long requested and long teased, these are really 100% happening, and Fangamer have gone absolutely overboard, with a giant Collector’s Edition stuffed full of extra goodies, available for PC, Nintendo Switch and PS4.
If you’re keen to snag one yourself, jump over here and pre-order (Pre-ordering even nabs you a very snazzy four character paper-craft set!). Alternatively, standards editions will also be releasing at the same time, available in the US through Best Buy and Gamestop (and maybe other places? Talk to Fangamer for more details!). Additionally, Japanese versions are on the horizon, from Fangamer JP.
And that’s only part one of FG’s mega-drop! Part 2 has been particularly exciting for us at Team Cherry. Kari Fry and Ryan Novak from the Fangamer team have been taking a deep dive into the world of Hollow Knight to create an epic tome of exploration, investigation and lore – The Wanderer’s Journal, a giant, 160 page, fully illustrated guidebook, jammed with details and insights.
We’ve been working closely with Kari and Ryan to ensure everything in there is totally accurate. Meanwhile, they’ve been hard at work making it all look and read as a fascinating, story and journey in its own right.
Whether you’re just about to set foot into Hallownest, or are an expert on its caverns and tunnels, the Wanderer’s Journal is the perfect companion. We’re over the moon to see it come together in such an incredible way, complete with super-snazzy foil inlay cover!
The Wanderer’s Journal is releasing at the same time as physical versions, May 31st. You can pre-order it here, or Fangamer’s offering a discount if you grab both items together.
Mini Silksong Update
Right up front, we have to say a very quick, a very sincere thank you to all of you and your response to Silksong’s surprise-announce. Keeping a secret like that for 2 years is crazy tough! And the enthusiasm and passion from the community and fans is the world’s best reward. We’re right now working double-hard to make Hornet’s big adventure the giant, sprawling, surprising journey, you deserve.
But today is a speed update! So we’re not going into lavish details, or revealing new game features. Instead, we’re doing a quick-dash-intro to a few of Hornet’s friends and rivals, an all new cast of wild, strange bugs within a vast new kingdom – the haunted land of Pharloom.
Hornet will wake in this withered land, a kingdom dedicated to faith and pilgrimage, crowned by an enormous, shining citadel and bursting with weird and wonderful creatures.
Lace
A lithe fencer wielding a gilded pin, the traditional weapon of Pharloom. Lace is a dangerous foe, cloaked in mystery, who’ll delight at causing Hornet’s swift, skewered demise.
Shakra
Fierce and intimidating, Shakra is a warrior seeking her master, who vanished under strange circumstances. Shakra’s clan are skilled fighters who can handle their own in the kingdom’s wilds. Usefully for Hornet, each member of the clan also hones a Craft-Skill and Shakra’s mastery of cartography will prove invaluable on Hornet’s adventure.
Trobbio
Master of the Stage, the Brush and the Voice, the flamboyant butterfly Trobbio seeks fame and adoration throughout Pharloom.
Sherma
An optimistic pilgrim on a spiritual journey. Sherma’s path may often cross with Hornet’s own, but his lack of combat and acrobatic prowess can land him in desperate need of aid.
Garmond and Zaza
A rambunctious older bug and his noble steed, on a quest to discover a new home. Garmond may be the chattier of the two, but Zaza could be the real brains of the pair.
Fan Art Celebration
The Hollow Knight creative world is as on fire as ever, with stunning pieces popping up almost faster than we can see them, even two years on. That’s unbelievable! We’re gonna finish by sharing some stunning works from fans and friends that’ve blown us away with their inspiration, energy and talent.
Annnnnddd we’re out! For a sprint-speed update, that went longer than expected, but there’s just so much crazy cool stuff out there, and this is barely the start of it! Click those links to see even more! Pop over and say hi to Fangamer (@Fangamer)! Say hi to us (@teamcherrygames)! Thank you all and happy two years of Hollow Knight!
TC :)
