BACKER GHOSTS, FUNGAL WASTES, FRONT PAGE OF REDDIT!
Hey Everyone!
It’s that time of the season – a brand new Hollow Knight update! We’re all working hard on the game and things are coming together nicely. Here’s a quick look at an area we’re just putting the final touches on – the Fungal Wastes!
Situated between the Forgotten Crossroads and the old Hallownest capital city, this network of caverns and highways has been slowly overgrown by a mass of fungi. Gross? Kind of! Cool? Very much so!
As you squelch and spelunk your way down through the wastes, you can stumble across a whole heap of surprises, hidden pathways and grotesque characters.
At the bottom of the wastes is the Mantis village. This warrior tribe has a proud and fierce history, and never bowed down to the old King of Hallownest. For their own reasons they have barred the way deeper into the caverns, and will kill any beast or wanderer who tries to defy them.
Backer Ghost Showcase!
As part of our Kickstarter campaign, a lot of backers have been helping us out with character designs. You’ve been sending us your crazy, amazing designs for ghosts and fallen wanderers, and Ari has been working feverishly to turn those designs into fully fledged characters in the world of Hollow Knight!
Below are a few examples of the submissions we’ve received from our incredible backers, along with the final design from Ari that will appear in the game.
In our next update we’re going to feature a few of the great Warrior Spirits. These rare ghosts still possess much of their living strength and can challenge the player to ethereal battle. The Warrior Spirits have also been conceived by backers and their designs are just as wild and original as the rest of the ghosts. Look forward to them soon!
Hollow Knight trailer makes it big on Reddit!
So, you’ve seen the newest Hollow Knight trailer right? The Ferocious Foes trailer? If not, don’t apologise, just have a quick look here:
Hollow Knight: Ferocious Foes Trailer
We had the good fortune of having the trailer posted on Reddit in the games subreddit (Thanks Hari!) and the response was amazing! People seemed to really dig it, and we got a lot of positive press and attention as a result. After working so hard and for so long at a hardcore pace, it’s super refreshing for the body and soul to get so much feedback and support. Now we just have to keep up the pace and get this badboy finished!
And on that note, we should get back to work! We’ll get back in touch soon though, we’re planning on doing a dev playthrough of the beta to talk through the gameplay and the design behind it. Should be fun!
